A Little Twitter Engagement Goes A Long Way

Good things happen when you engage on Twitter. I’ve had two positive experiences in the last few weeks that are worth sharing.

The first is that I participated in the first-ever Twitter chat led from space.

On Saturday, August 1st, International Space Station Commander Scott Kelly (@StationCDRKelly) answered all kinds of questions from curious, wanna-be astronauts using the hashtag #YearInSpace.

I asked Commander Kelly to tweet a picture of Earth, and within a few minutes, he did exactly that. How great is that?

The second positive experience came when I favorited and retweeted a tweet from Jennifer Kelly, a fellow member of C.A.M.P. (Canadian Association of Marketing Professionals) and a person I “met” on Twitter several months ago.

Little did I know that this simple activity would spark a Twitter conversation involving two highly accomplished - and Social Media savvy - authors, and that it would lead to a descriptive write-up in Jennifer’s blog - shared multiple times on Social Media, of course!

Read Jennifer’s blog here.

Engagement on Twitter has always been a fulfilling activity. It’s a great way to get to know your community a little better, and to let them know that you like their content.

Other times, depending on the kind of activity you pursue, your Twitter engagement can quite literally be out of this world!

Yours in digital,

Hilary
